Astral projection is a
term that is used often to describe an out-of-body experience …one which assumes
the existence of a consciousness or what might be called a soul which is then called
an "astral body"…this astral body is totally apart from the physical
body and it is capable of travelling outside of it throughout the entire universe…much
of the intelligentsia who studied astral projection thought the astral body was
an intermediate body of light…a light that linked what is called the rational
soul to the physical body itself…while the astral plane is an intermediate
world of light…one that falls between heaven and earth…this world is composed
of the spheres of the planets and stars…of course there is no known scientific
evidence that the concept of astral projection as an objective phenomenon actually
exists…’soul travel’ is the soul's ability to leave the body at will or perhaps
while sleeping and at these times, the soul will travel to the various planes
of heaven…there are similar concepts that exist of this traveling soul…soul travel
appears in many religious traditions…for example, the teachings of the ancient
Egyptians present the soul as having the ability to hover outside the physical
body via what was called the ka, or subtle body…not all these travels are
pleasant however as some who have experienced astral projection have described
a place that has absolutely no parallel to any known physical setting…these
type of environments may contain living beings or be totally unpopulated…they
may be quite natural in nature or they may be abstract in form…and the
experience has been described as neutral or even horrific.
