A Visitor

A family member related this story…he went to bed as normal and was sleeping peacefully when he woke suddenly and an apparition appeared before him…it was that of his deceased mother…she talked to him in a warm, loving way…addressing some of the concerns he had…just everyday life things…she appeared for a few moments than the image dissipated before him…he was shocked at what just occurred and he couldn’t just go back to sleep…so he went to his kitchen to have some milk and to calm down…for some reason unknown to him, he was compelled to walk over and touch the telephone…it was warm to the touch even though no one in the house had just used it…he was too afraid to pick up and listen to see if anyone was on the line…now this man is not one given to hallucinations or beliefs in the supernatural, but there was no denying what had happened to him.

Cerebral Anoxia

'Not A Hallucination'

Sometimes when a person has…notice I did not say suffers from hallucinations because not all hallucinations cause suffering…some of these can be quite productive if we even want to call them hallucinations at all…anyway these ‘hallucinations’ are chalked up to what is called cerebral anoxia by the medical professionals…that is a lack of oxygen to the brain which can be caused by many things…for our discussion, we will talk about the experiences of those who have fasted for many days…the ‘experts’ say that this lack of food causes people sometimes to have supposed spiritual experiences or feelings…or that such a condition can even cause people to see ghosts or UFO’s or other paranormal ‘things’…of course these experts give no chance to someone actually having such a thing occur to them because they have no belief in anything out of a laboratory…they are ‘men of science’ and have no tolerance for paranormal explanations…this seems to be a little too cut and dried to just blow off reports that people have made…maybe they don’t want to admit such things happen…just another way to control thought by the masses…they refuse to admit that cerebral anoxia…or these ‘hallucinations’…can bring one closer to a divine spirit and be of limitless value.

Lycanthropy a.k.a. Werewolf+-ism

Just about everyone is familiar with the legend of the werewolf…traditionally, there were several ways a person could become a werewolf...a person could be transformed by eating the meat of a wolf that had been mixed with that of a human and that the ensuing condition was irreversible…centuries later other stories circulated that were said to create werewolves or perhaps more rationally explained as a condition of clinical lycanthropy as the medical people call it…these including having a cursed placed upon you, or by being conceived under a new moon, or by having eaten certain herbs, or by sleeping under the full moon on a Friday (presumably outside or this would make us all werewolves), or by drinking water that has been touched by a wolf…this was taken quite seriously in medieval Europe…traditionally, there are three methods one can use to cure a werewolf… medicinally (usually via the use of wolfs bane)…surgically or by exorcism…many of the cures advocated by the medieval medical practitioners proved to be fatal to the patients… Lon Chaney Jr. played the title role in 1941’s ‘The Wolf Man’… He was the son of course of movie legend Lon Chaney…the movie was a great factor in the rise in popularity of the wolf man story…Bela Lugosi of ‘Dracula’ fame had a part as a gypsy fortune teller who was also a werewolf…the idea of a wolf man has a widespread belief in European folklore…Bavaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria were the hotbeds of this tale…speaking of Lon Chaney Jr., he was the only actor ever to play ‘The Big Four’ horror characters from Universal…The Wolf Man, and in later incarnations, Frankenstein’s monster, Count Dracula, and the Mummy…he also appeared in ‘The Inner Sanctum’ movie series which was very good.

Roadside Figure

Two people were driving on a country road in rural Indiana...it was a gray day with a light rain falling as they drove through the countryside…one woman was just gazing out the passenger window…really not thinking about anything at all…then something caught their attention on the right side of the road, maybe ten or fifteen feet off the old road in a field…it seemed to be some indistinct dark form that looked like it could have been an old scarecrow…the driver stopped the car on the side of the road and they stared at this ‘thing’...they slowly got out of the car and as they approached it, …it was wearing a hooded black robe that hung lazily to the ground...the face wasn’t visible...the arms were down at its sides and the hands were not visible either…the rain began to intensify and they heard lightning and thunder in the distance…the figure gave them a feeling that filled them with terror…they weren’t scared that it would do something to them, it was just appeared to give off a feeling of impending doom...after looking at it for a few minutes, they got back in the car and began driving again…not more than a few minutes passed when they came upon a gruesome head on collision in which both cars involved were engulfed in flames and a few people had stopped to help, but there was nothing they could do…she wondered if this ‘figure’ had somehow manifested itself to delay them briefly…if it hadn’t, could they have been involved in the accident?...could they have been killed?...one wonders...oh by the way, the police had them turn around because the road was blocked…when they passed by the spot where the mysterious figure had been…it was no longer there.
