my experience tells me
that most women will do anything
for money or status
most guys will do anything
for money, status, or power
the blonde trophy wife with the perfect smile
and women are all too happy
to be the trophy wife
as long as the money’s coming in
or until they get bored
hangers-on, leeches, sponges
users, abusers
who needs ‘em?
this woman comes over to me last night
“Hey, my friend says you’re a poet”
“Uh-huh” I reply looking at my drink...what do you want?
I look up at her
she looks down at me
dumbfounded or maybe she was just dumb
“I thought we could get to know each other” she tries to purr
“Yeah, what do you really want?” I ask again
she crinkles up her face and walks off
I don’t need that type
Of course the joke would be on her anyway
I’ve never had money or status
