We previously spoke of the mythical island of Atlantis, but the mysterious Nazca lines that can be found in Peru are very real…these lines are a series of large ancient geoglyphs that are found in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru…some of these enormous geoglyphs in the arid coastal region of Peru depict things such as spiders, a condor, plants and other assorted figures…it is thought that they date back to about 500 B.C…so long ago...they are best viewed by air, but they can be seen from ground level…no one knows exactly why the prehistoric Nazca culture went through such tremendous work to construct the geoglyphs if it was them who created this wonder…speculation is that they may have had some kind of a ritual role in their civilization or that they were linked up to constellations in the sky…some have even ventured to guess that they were a way of communicating with aliens and gave some kind of message to them…llamas, jaguars, human figures…what were their purpose?...why all the effort to make these geoglyphs?... there’s no secret as to how the designs were made…the designs are merely shallow lines that were made in the ground by removing the reddish pebbles and thus uncovering the whitish/grayish ground beneath…but by who?...an advanced civilization, or maybe extraterrestrials?...all kind of theories abound, but no one knows for sure...now because of its isolation and the dry, windless, and relatively stable climate of the plateau where they are, for the most part, the lines have mostly been naturally preserved for maybe thousands of years...maybe signaling something...but what, and to who?… in recent years however, the lines are said to have been deteriorating because of an influx of people inhabiting the lands…there are some people who are trying to preserve the Nazca Lines…the biggest concern is pollution and erosion which has come from deforestation in the region.
