A Mummy |
The Book of Thoth is a name given to
many ancient Egyptian texts which were supposedly to have been written by Thoth
who was the Egyptian god of writing and material knowledge…they include many
texts that were claimed to exist by ancient authors, and a magical book that
appears in an Egyptian work of fiction…Thoth was the god of knowledge and many
of these texts were claimed to be his writings…the Egyptian historian Manetho
said that Thoth wrote over 35,000 books, making him quite prolific…some of the concepts
espoused were not entirely accurate and some of the Egyptian authenticity was
lost as the pages of history and time turned... they covered many subjects like
hymns, rituals, temple construction, astrology, geography, and medicine…in the
1932 movie, ‘The Mummy’ starring Boris Karloff, there is mention of the Scroll
of Thoth but no such document ever existed and was merely invented by the
moviemakers.
