There once was a brave warrior
who during a battle, was captured by his enemies and thrown into prison. That
night he was unable to sleep because he feared that the next day he would be
interrogated, tortured, and executed. He was panic stricken about his fate. His
bravery had left him and now he sobbed uncontrollably in the dark, dank
confines of his cell. Just then he thought about the words of his Zen master that
had come to him, "Tomorrow is not real. It is only an illusion. The only
reality is now." Pondering those words, the warrior became peaceful and
fell into a long sleep.
