Out Of The Bottle

Once something gets out of the bottle, it may be difficult or impossible to catch; or even if you do catch it, you can’t get it back in the bottle. A caged bird may fly far if given the chance to do so. Some things like innocence can never be captured again. Its place is taken by knowledge, wisdom, and perhaps cynicism. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Of course there comes a time when we cannot be innocent or naïve about things, but it seems to me that this kind of worldliness keeps coming at an earlier age these days and we are all poorer for it.
