A Harsh Light

In the bars, the restaurants, the nightclubs, we look to escape; escape from the humdrum of a working life, a worn out relationship, loneliness that eats at us bit by bit. The ice in our glass melts away like the time in our life. We drink and pretend that the lights are brighter than they are, the music more soothing, the darkness more cooling. However, it is all gone in the morning and we are left with the pieces we must pick up. The Dao is reality, a harsh light that reveals all.
