It was on this day
October 3rd in 1967 that Woody Guthrie, one of the pioneers of the
1950s folk revival movement, died. Guthrie’s most well-known song was probably
‘This Land Is Your Land’. I remember learning this song back in elementary
school music class of course I must admit that the meaning of the song escaped
me at the time. Truly this land is your land; take the time to wander its
redwood forests and play in its gulfstream waters, go down its back roads, walk
in its wheat fields. Don’t analyze like the scholars, experience as followers
of the Dao and its magic.
