The Goal of No Goal

Meditation is a practice by which the meditator attempts to get beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind that traps us in autopilot and instead guide us into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation has been practiced since the days of antiquity. There are various ‘goals’ such as, achieving a higher state of consciousness or enlightenment, developing and increasing compassion, receiving spiritual inspiration, creating greater self-awareness, or simply developing a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind. You cannot go wrong with trying to achieve any of the above, but be careful not to be concerned with reaching the goal; simply practicing is a huge step in the right direction towards inner harmony.
