The Rain, The Snow, and Other Things

I was caught in the rain today but I did not care. While others waited under cover or huddled under an umbrella, I willingly let the rain fall upon me. Some people have such an attachment to the thought that anything less than a sunny day is lacking. Yet nothing is as beautiful as a spring rain, or a summer thunderstorm. To listen to the rain drumming on the metal porch roof brings such a soothing feeling. I cannot imagine much more productive time than looking out the window and watching it rain. Nothing can be more tranquil that watching the snow fall and accumulate outside. Few things are more refreshing than being outside on a cold winter night shoveling the freshly fallen snow from the sidewalk. If we learn to read these letters from the Tao, we will have no use for dusty books.
