Henry Thoreau

to a cabin
in the woods
to live ‘deliberately’
not a recluse
as many think
mile and a ½
from town
walking distance
went into town
once a week
for supplies
to see his family, friends
have dinner
sometimes
he’d have visitors
talk to people
passing through
the woods
he said
we should
try to simplify
I can agree with that
I’d like him a lot more
if he would have said
the hell with everybody
moved far far away
from the human scourge
