Big grocery store parking lot
the straight white lines reminded me of
Arlington National Cemetery…
one after another after another after another after another
...then one more after another after another after…
little white crosses to the horizon and up to the sky
under the stars under the sun
under the grass under the dirt
under the rain and snow
under the eternal sun and moon
keeping watch
day fades to night
and night gives way to day
some things are forever
rest in peace
I went to Arlington National Cemetery once
with my family
my father left the car headlights on
at the end of the day
the battery was dead
seemed apropos
