Eric Carmen based part
of his songs ‘All By Myself’ and ‘Never Gonna Fall In Love Again’ on
Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2…one of my favorite pieces…Carmen thought
the songs were in the public domain and therefore not copyrighted so he went
ahead and used them…but he was notified by the Rachmaninoff estate that this
was not the case…oops…but the two sides eventually settled on a royalties
agreement…Carmen had been a teen idol, but in fact he was classically trained
on the piano when he was young.
