Health or reputation:
which is held dearer?
Health or possessions:
which has more worth?
Profit or loss: which is
more troublesome?
Great love incurs great
expense
And great wealth incurs
great fear
But contentment comes at
no cost
For who knows when to
stop
Does not continue into
danger
And so may long endure
Contentment with enough
is wise
Those who seek more,
more, more, endanger themselves and are never happy
Greed is like drinking
salt water
It only makes one more
thirsty
So it is the sage who
knows when to rest
When to know that he has
enough
When to leave some for
others
That is the mark of one
who understands the Dao
