Weddings Are Like Funerals

Weddings are like funerals and funerals are like weddings. When we get married, our independent lives die and many things made up of that independent life die too. We say good-bye to the freedom we may have enjoyed. We trade it in for another form of happiness, or at least we hope so. Our view of happiness today may not be the same view we have tomorrow. Like everything else, it evolves, from one form to another. When our children marry, nothing can ever be the same. No matter how much we love them, no matter how close we once were to them, we are pushed aside. That’s just the way it is and it is natural for it to be that way. When we die, we marry the next existence and we go forth. We leave behind the remnants of this existence. The journey does not end but is only the beginning of a fresh one. We gain and we lose. It goes on and on.
