If you hold a piece of wood in your hand, you might wonder if it is too short, too long, or just right. It of course depends on what you want it for. Nothing can show its true value until you relate it to something else. A point of view for example is determined by what the observer is relating to. The nature, the value, or the quality of something can only be measured in relation to another object. Having the Hope Diamond in your hands is useless if you are stranded on a remote island and are desperate for a drink of fresh water.
