High Tide

When a river empties into an ocean, all of its characteristics, such as its speed, its current and its shape are destroyed, yet not one drop of its substance, the water, is lost. Similarly, when a person discovers the wisdom of the Dao and practices it with their whole heart, all negativity is washed away like the footprints on a beach at high tide. The Dao “creates without creating”. All is lost and all is found. Just as the bright sunlight exposes the non-existence of the monster hiding under the bed, the Dao illuminates the mind and makes it easier to see. So you see, the Dao both creates and destroys.
