The Dao in some sense is
pretty black and white. It’s all about balance; yin and yang delicately
dangling in the wind. There is no thaumaturgy involved; no charlatans
performing tricks or deceptions. It is all there for you to see. There are no
magic potions, no shining cloths hiding anything from your eyes; no pulling
objects out of hats. Yet it is so amazing that there are so many who do not see
this. Perhaps this is because man’s favorite pastime is fooling himself or
maybe we don’t really want to know the truth. If we knew and acknowledged the
truth it would be sobering. Therefore, we drink in all the illusion we can
trying to drown whatever it is we are trying to drown.
