Those among us who
prefer to stir in the late and early morning hours are often referred to as
night owls. Yet, there is another creature that prefers to do its work during
the nighttime; I am speaking of the jackal. A jackal is a sort of dog-like
creature. The jackal shares this nocturnal trait with many an artist or writer,
or at least with some of them like me anyway. It eschews the heat and the
hustle and bustle of the daytime hours for a cooler and more tranquil setting.
This is when the jackal and those who are like him get their best work done.
