Nature possesses no desire at all. It merely does what it
does. It wouldn’t be difficult to imagine that a person without desire would be
at peace, or would they be? Is desire always negative? We have to have a desire
to live, to eat, to survive. Some desires are essential. Some desires dress up
as essential, but really aren’t. They perform a great masquerade and perform
their trickery on us. The problem is many of us never bother with an unmasking
before committing ourselves to whatever it is they are offering. We are more
than happy to be drawn to the pleasant without bothering or wanting to look
behind the façade. How unfortunate this can turn out to be.
