What Might Have Been

Sitting at the bar or in the dark recesses of our favorite lounge long after happy hour, we wisely have stopped buying drinks and nurse what is in front of us, knowing we have had enough. Conversation has ceased, and we stare at the floor in a stupor. We think about what might have been or dream about what might be if we only had a chance. We have to go out into the cold and hopefully someone drives us home. We cannot always get what we want and life is not always convenient. The Dao reminds us of this in strange ways and in strange days.
