We sit down at the
pachinko machine and take our chances. The balls fall haphazardly; sometimes we
win, sometimes we do not. To win every time would not be in line with the way
of the Dao. There is order to be restored, balance to be maintained. Our
journey can be like the ball falling in the machine. We can be bumped off course,
we can hit the big payoff. It is the randomness of life that keeps one awake at
night.
