Jazz

To play jazz, you must be good at improvisation as that is the foundation behind it. One must learn to go with the flow of the music. In jazz, the musicians will interpret a tune in very individual ways, and never playing the same composition exactly the same way twice. Depending upon the performer's mood and perhaps some personal experiences, or interactions with members of the audience or even the band, a jazz musician may alter the melodies, the harmonies or even the time signature of the piece at will. This leads to all kinds of freedom and possibilities. To follow the Dao successfully, one must learn to go with the flow of the Dao, the in’s and out’s, the up and down. We take what is given and spin it in our own unique way. There are many different kinds of jazz, and diverse artists such as Scott Joplin, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, and thousands more, all of them putting their own unique touches of it. Don’t feel compelled to have to play somebody’s else’s notes. Improvise the everyday music of your life.
