x2 + y2

The shortest route between two points is a straight line. This much I remember and little else from geometry classes when my mind was often somewhere else, but that is another story. To take a straight line requires us to wander, take back roads, walk through forests, and take the path not taken. The easiest way is not always the easiest way. On our journey, we will be tempted with streets that go nowhere, dark alleys where danger lurks, dead ends that threaten our very path. It is the beautiful mirage that leads us farther away from true water. It is the smiling face that often hides a frowning heart. Do not become distracted or misdirected by that that is not pure of Dao.
