A mouse cannot cast a shadow like an elephant. A ten watt bulb cannot pass for the sun. Dime store wisdom, like old egg, cannot stand the test of time. Before embracing anything, ask yourself if this is the latest flavor of the month or is it the genuine article. The Tao is not the flashiest, slickest, or grandiose of what passes for a spiritual and wise way to live these days, but it has been proven over time to be the wisest. Religions have come and gone, preachers have come and gone, new age gurus are here today and gone tomorrow, but the Tao remains.
