Leading Us Away

If you wave a stack of money in front of people, some will want to steal it from you. It is not right for that to happen, but it was also not right to do such a thing as flaunting your wealth. You may find that due to economic conditions, you may find the value of your money dropping with the passage of time. If you place great value on friends, they will move away, die, or change into someone else, or perhaps even betray you. To place value on fame, fortune, or beauty, can lead you astray. One must abandon these ideas. We must empty our minds of such thoughts. What is valuable to one man can be coveted by another or even deemed worthless to yet another. It is such desires and wants lead us away from the Tao.
