The Nameless

You can call it the Tao, but that is not its name. You see, it is nameless. We only give it a name out of convenience. I call myself Roshi Hogan, but what is a Roshi Hogan? We put too much attention on our names, our bodies. We will go beyond our bodies one day. What are words? They are empty of meaning. They only have the power that we attach to them. So perhaps you can see, you can call it whatever you like. It is the source of the universe, of all things. It is simple, yet full of mystery. It lives in the misty shadows of existence, emerging and receding. Those free from the earthly passions can best understand it. By understanding and following the Tao, they disconnect from the common. Those that follow the path and understand its ways enter the gateway of inner peace and wisdom.
