The Quest For Peace

Peace does not lie on the path that we walk, but in ourselves. If we seek peace externally, we are trying to identify the answer without knowing the problem. The problem is that we believe the external should put us at peace. On the contrary, we must develop peace internally. A man may move to the deepest cave, the highest mountain, or densest forest in an attempt to find peace. Yet, if he does not know how to be at peace within, he will have made his efforts in vain. Try keeping track of how many times you depart from the Tao in anger or unrest. Peace comes from knowing the ways of the Tao, the ways of ourselves, and the ways of others. When all this can be reconciled, there will be peace within.
