Obese Zen Students

If books are food for the mind, too many students are obese. Too much reading leads to too little practicing. Too much information like trying to pour river into teacup. Be discerning about what you read. Not everyone who writes an article about Tao or Zen is expert.

Often author only giving their opinion valid or not on subject.
Even in case of good information, human mind can only process so much without confusion, doubt, or fatigue. Some students read themselves right out of practicing because they are weary from too much reading.

Perhaps some dieting is in order. Put away books. Just experience each moment, sit quietly and meditate. There is nothing else to do. Shedding some pounds from zen consumption can be most effective way to healthy practice.
