If we want truth and nothing but truth, we must open eyes to truth of Tao. Society only presents truths that it finds pleasing or necessary to further stranglehold over mankind. Do you get truth from media, church, friends, or associates? Tao has no need to deceive, lie, or cheat. No need to further its own agenda for it has no agenda.
Many things masquerade as truth. Remove mask and see what is behind. Chances are, supposed truth is wolf in sheep’s clothing. Can man be trusted to present truth? Truth from universe is what we should seek.
